By now you've seen the photos on Instagram: nurses and hospital staff geared up in PPE (personal protective equipment) holding signs that read, "We stay at work for you.
Stay home for us." It's a necessary plea—coronavirus has come to the United States, and every day it threatens to completely overwhelm our country's hospitals unless we flatten the curve.
The heroes in all of this are the people on the frontlines: the doctors, nurses, cleaning crew, paramedics, and thousands of other hospital workers who show up every day for battle.
It's a critical time for them, but they've been doing life-saving work long before COVID-19 was a concern.I know firsthand.
