Another 613 people die with coronavirus in the UK, with 53,285 more positive cases

The government said a further 613 people have passed away within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday (January 1).This brings the UK total to 74,125.As of 9am on New Year's Day, there had been a further 53,285 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.This is more than double the amount recorded on December 31 - 26,284 - but less than the 64,000 recorded on Thursday (December 30).The latest figures bring the total number of cases across the country to 2,542,065.Separate figures published by the UK's statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together.
