MUMBAI : India is facing a new challenge in its battle to limit the spread of the coronavirus with a surge in the number of health workers infected or being exposed to the virus, amid demands for better protection as they struggle to treat patients in crowded hospitals.
In Mumbai’s Wockhardt Hospital, 30 doctors and nurses were suspected to be infected with the coronavirus, municipal authorities said on Monday.
In Pune, 92 employees of the DY Patil Hospital in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area were quarantined after an accident victim, who was being treated there, tested positive for covid-19, a local official said.
