Beaches and parks filled with sunseekers despite 'rule of six' coronavirus measures

A spell of warm weather has brought crowds back out into the parks and beaches as talk of another lockdown looms. But some groups appeared to be flouting the 'rule of six' even as the UK's top science advisers warned coronavirus cases are ramping up dangerously fast.

England's 'rule of six' limits made any larger gatherings indoors or outdoors illegal, and Boris Johnson is considering introducing yet more restrictions likely to be announced on Tuesday.

But some groups spotted out about in England today appeared not to be following the law, potentially risking fines. Pictures from around England showed groups of young people relaxing in the sun as the final burst of summer gives way to autumn.
