Christmas has effectively been cancelled for millions of Brits after the government dramatically banned festive bubbles in large parts of the country just six days beforehand.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced London and the south east of England will be placed into a Tier 4 coronavirus lockdown from 12.01am tomorrow, approximately a third of England's population.
Tier 4 rules are essentially the same as the national lockdown in November with non-essential shops, hairdressers, gyms, leisure and entertainment venues all being forced to close.
Tier 4 residents must not travel out of their area and work from home if they can.Festive bubbles in Tier 1 to 3 are also going to be scaled back.
