People are set to face harsher penalties for flouting lockdown rules, as the government cracks down on rule breakers. Boris Johnson is set to bump up maximum charges, giving police powers to slap the worst offenders with a whopping £3,200 fixed penalty notice.
It's part of a new bid to improve compliance during the coronavirus lockdown, under new rules set to outlined by the Prime Minister tonight and introduced on Monday.
The hefty new no-nonsense measures will see fines starting at £100 (up from £60) then doubling for a repeat offence. This will then rise to £400 for a third offence, £800 for a fourth then £1,600 and finally a sixth offence would cost £3,200.
