More than 4,000 extra journeys were made on the London Underground on Monday, a day after Boris Johnson told people to go back to work if they can't do their jobs from home.
Addressing the nation on Sunday, the Prime Minister said he was "actively encouraging" people in industries such as construction and manufacturing to return to work.
The country has now been on lockdown for more than seven weeks in a bid to control the coronavirus outbreak which has seen the UK record the highest Covid-19 death toll in Europe.
Yesterday, Transport for London (TfL) urged all London Underground passengers to wear face masks and carry hand sanitiser as pictures showed packed Tube trains at Canning Town in the east of the city.
