Tubes and trains crowded on first day back for workers under new lockdown rules

London's Tubes have been pictured crammed with commuters as people returned to work on the first day of Boris Johnson's coronavirus lockdown rule change.

The Prime Minister's 'road-map' out of lockdown relaxed rules, allowing people in England to go back to work 'if it is safe to do so'.

But the change prompted fears that commuters and workplaces would struggle to maintain social distancing guidelines. Pictures from Canning Town, in east London this morning, show travellers packing onto Jubilee Line Tube carriages.

Only some wore face coverings, after the government urged people to don the protective wear when they used transport - but stopped short of making it enforceable.
