Nearly half of Brits have piled on nearly 1lb-a-week since lockdown, with those from Newcastle putting on the most weight, a study has found.
A poll of 2,000 Britons quizzed about whether they have put on weight since the coronavirus lockdown, saw 47% confess they had put on 5lb or more over the last six weeks.
Geordies were the most likely to balloon in weight, with 62% saying they had seen their weight sky-rocket as they exercised less, ate more comfort food, and drank more booze.
Those from the East of the England were least likely to have bulked up since the lockdown, although 39% said they had put on just under 1lb-a-week in the past six weeks.
