Wigan council will use CCTV cameras to catch businesses that are still open during the lockdown. Bars, restaurants and cafes were ordered to close by the Prime Minister on Friday evening in a bid to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

And even more stringent measures were introduced last night by the government - meaning that non-essential shops and gyms have also been closed.

Wigan council have now said they’ve brought in new powers that will allow them to close businesses that have been caught flouting the new rules.

And it could even lead to companies losing their licence for good. The town hall said they'd be using CCTV alongside Greater Manchester Police to track down any business that is still open when they shouldn’t be.
