Chief medic apologises over delays in getting PPE to frontline NHS staff

A leading medic apologised for giving people hope that the shortage of protective equipment for frontline staff in the battle against coronavirus had been resolved.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Jenny Harries admitted that distribution had been 'tricky at times' during the daily press conference on Covid-19 on Tuesday.

Scores of nurses and doctors have complained in recent weeks that they have not been equipped with the correct protective clothing when treating coronavirus patients.
