Coronation Street icon Bill Roache celebrated his 88th birthday yesterday while in coronavirus lockdown at his family home. The soap legend, who has played Ken Barlow on Corrie since 1960, seemed happier then ever as he spent some time with his children.

The ITV soap sent their best wishes to the actor by sharing a snap of Bill celebrating turning another year older with his son James and daughter Verity on social media.

Corrie's official Twitter account tweeted: "Sending a massive thank you for all your warm wishes from Bill, who's celebrating his 88th birthday in lockdown at home with his family!"
