Coronavirus: Doctor says rare symptom in eyes could be early sign of infection

A doctor has said a rare symptom which may act as a sign of coronavirus infection can appear in the eyes - but only in a very 'low percentage of people'.

The NHS is instructing people not to leave their home if they experience symptoms of Covid-19, and highlights a high temperature and a new, continuous cough as the two main warning signs.

Rather than visiting a GP, pharmacy or hospital for advice, it's urging people who require non-emergency help to use the online 111 coronavirus service for support.

An expert has now told Health that having persistently bloodshot eyes could be a warning sign that someone has been infected.
