Warnings have been issued about drinking pure alcohol to cure coronavirus after more than 600 people died in Iran from drinking booze.

More than 3,000 have been hospitalised in the Islamic Republic after trying the homemade remedy in the mistaken belief that it cures Covid-19.

Iran is suffering from the worst coronavirus outbreak in the Middle East, with more than 67,000 confirmed cases and 4,003 deaths.
