NEW DELHI: The government struggles to identify emerging coronavirus (covid-19) hotspots in India due to the country's large population amid the recent spike in the number of cases.
The health ministry, in its containment plan to tackle outbreaks, has said the current geographic distribution of covid-19 mimics the distribution of H1N1 pandemic influenza, adding that this suggests that while the spread of the deadly virus among India's population could be high, it is unlikely that it will be uniformly affecting all parts of the country.
This calls for differential approach to various regions of the country, while mounting a strong containment effort in hot spots.
