The coronavirus lingers in the air and does not just spread through coughs and sneezes, a disturbing study has claimed. US scientists discovered traces of the bug in rooms after patients had left, and in hospital corridors where staff had been coming in and out.
The study took samples from 11 Covid-19 patients’ rooms after they had been placed in isolation. It has not yet been peer-reviewed or published in a scientific journal.
Lead author James Lawler, an infectious diseases expert at the Nebraska University, said in a statement: “Our team was already taking airborne precautions with the initial patients we cared for. “This report reinforces our suspicions.
