Coronavirus could be twice as contagious as previously thought, a new study has claimed. The study from the US looked into the early stages of the outbreak in the city of Wuhan, China.
Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico said that they believe the carriers of coronavirus in Wuhan each infected an average of 5.7 people each.
Epidemiologists previously estimated that each person infected with Covid-19 infected between two or three people on average.
The new findings come after authorities in Beijing admitted China's coronavirus death toll is 50% higher in Wuhan than previously reported.
