The UK's coronavirus lockdown has been extended for a further three weeks, the government has announced. Speaking at today's press briefing from Downing Street, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said that the lockdown will last until May.
Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford announced the decision before the Foreign Secretary officially revealed the extension. Raab, filling in or Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is still recovering, said: "Any change to our social distancing measures now would risk a significant increase in the spread of the virus." He added relaxing rules could cause a "second peak" which would risk increasing the number of deaths "substantially".
