Coronavirus Scotland: Ayrshire hospital numbers hit record high for third day in succession

Ayrshire hospitals has hit a record high for the third day in succession.Latest figures show 232 people were in hospital with confirmed coronavirus at midnight – up 11 from yesterday.There are now 14 people with the disease in intensive care, which is a rise of three.A further 95 positive coronavirus cases have been recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran taking the pandemic total to 12,236.A further 10 deaths have been recorded in Ayrshire – among 71 nationwide.Scotland's death toll now stands at 5,376.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 7,704 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, January 10 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.Nationally, 1,989 people are in hospital with 150 in intensive.
