Coronavirus UK deaths include 22-year-old and 44 people with no health problems

A significant proportion of the people who died of Covid-19 in the past day had no underlying health problems. The UK coronavirus death toll rose by its highest 24 hour total yet again today.

The number of people who have now died having contracted the deadly bug is 2,977. A total of 569 more patients died between yesterday and today, the Department of Health announced, with Scotland and Wales adding additional fatalities to the tally later in the afternoon.
