England's coronavirus daily death rate has slowed again as it rose by 429 and Scotland's by 12 in 24 hours. This means at least 16,489 people have died with the bug in the UK with Northern Ireland and Wales still yet to release their figures today.
An NHS spokesman confirmed that 15 of the patients who succumbed to the virus had no underlying health conditions. The rise comes amid reports the Government is preparing a “traffic light” lockdown exit plan once the pandemic is under control.
Last week it was extended by a further three weeks despite signs that Britain's coronavirus curve is flattening. As of 9am on April 19, 120,067 people have tested positive in Britain.
