Covid-19 case numbers in Ireland "remain high" despite decreases in PCR positive confirmed cases and antigen positive cases, according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
It said that during the week between 27 March and 2 April, there were 33,671 new infections cases reported through the PCR system.
This is a decrease of 34.9% compared to the previous week when there were 51,722 confirmed Covid-19 cases notified. A total of 41,718 positive antigen test results were registered on the HSE portal in the same week.
This is a decrease of 47.93% compared to the week before, when 80,114 cases were registered. People in the 35-44 age group had the highest incidence rate with 20.9% of all cases notified.
