NEW DELHI: During the last 36 hours about 2,361 people have been evacuated from the city’s Nizamuddin Markaz, associated with a rise in cases of covid-19 across the country, Delhi deputy chief Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.
Of the 120 cases in Delhi so far, 24 can be traced back to the Markaz. Jammu & Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Telangana, Andaman & Nicobar, and Andhra Pradesh, among others, have reported a surge in cases of covid-19, especially those who attended the three-day religious meeting organised by the Nizamuddin Markaz in mid-march. "The entire building of Markaz in Nizamuddin has been evacuated after a 36 hour intensive operation.
