NEW DELHI: The radio has emerged as a credible source of information as the country sits at home during the lockdown, aimed at containing the spread of covid-19, with 82% of the population in metros turning to FM channels, according to a recent survey.
Radio garnered a credibility score of 6.27, second only to the Internet at 6.44 and television at 5.74, according to the survey conducted by market consultancy firm AZ Research PPL across a sample size of 3,300 in the top six metros - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad - in the 18 plus age group.
In fact, the radio industry witnessed a listenership of 51 million people, which is nearly as much as television’s reach of 56 million and social media’s reach of 57 million.
