BENGALURU: Online retailers and grocery and food delivery companies have been scrambling to find labour, given that large numbers of migrant workers have fled cities in panic as the sudden 21-day lockdown threatened to deprive them of wages and food.
Flipkart, Amazon, BigBasket, Swiggy, Zomato as well as logistics companies such as Delhivery and Rivigo are all facing a shortage of blue-collar workers.
Some of these companies are offering incentives to attract new delivery workers and to retain their present staff. “Our delivery partners are facing acute shortage of delivery agents," said a spokesperson at online retailer Snapdeal, which works with external logistics providers to deliver products.
