Recorded crime in England and Wales has fallen by 25% compared to the same time last year - with a huge drop in burglary and vehicle crime.
However there has been a rise in domestic abuse incidents, the data shows, as well as a surge in assaults on 999 workers. The figures, covering the four weeks to May 10, unsurprisingly show shoplifting offences have fallen by half, with most retailers closed.
There has been a 36% reduction in police recorded burglary, a 41% drop in vehicle crime, and a 30% fall in serious assault and personal robbery.
Recorded rape offences have fallen 28%, while shoplifting is down 53% with many retail businesses closed. But assaults on emergency services workers are up 14% during the period amid a string of incidents
