MATADOR, Texas - At least four people have been killed, and nine others were injured when a tornado ripped through the town of Matador, Texas, Wednesday evening, according to local officials.According to Derek Delgado, the Public Information Officer with Lubbock Fire Rescue, everyone is currently accounted for, and search and rescue efforts resumed at first light Thursday morning.Initially, 10 people were reported to be injured, but one of the tornado victims died at the hospital, bringing the total number of injured to nine.Drone video shows extensive damage after a deadly tornado in Matador, Texas, on June 21, 2023. "It was truly something I’ve never seen in my career, just the amount of emergency crews from around the state that have come together to help this town is truly remarkable."But also, Delgado continued, the emotional toll of what took place is something that will affect residents well into the future."These people’s livelihoods, we had a restaurant, you know, completely torn apart.

We had doors broken down, residences, you know, demolished," he said. "It’s truly devastating, especially with a town this size."Matador has a population of around 571 and is located about 60 miles east-northeast of Lubbock in northwestern Texas.Much of Matador remains without power due to the severe weather that rolled through Texas and the Plains on Wednesday.

Airport worker dies after being ‘ingested’ by plane engine in Texas

PHILADELPHIA - A double shooting on a North Philadelphia street claimed the life of a young man in the early hours of Saturday morning.Officers responded to several reports of shots being fired near West Girard Avenue and North Broad Street around 2 a.m.They arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds, including a 21-year-old man shot in the head.He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.MORE HEADLINES:Police say a second man, who was shot in the leg, is being treated as a prisoner while being treated at a local hospital.No weapons have been recovered, and a motive is unknown at this time.

PHILADELPHIA - A homicide investigation is underway after police say a man was fatally shot on Philadelphia's Boathouse Row early Saturday morning.Officers found the victim lying on Kelly Drive in Fairmount Park next to a green Dodge Charger around 2:30 a.m. He was suffering from multiple fatal gunshot wounds.Police say the man appeared to be in his 30s, but his identity has yet to be released.MORE HEADLINES:The car was also riddled with bullet holes, but no spent shell casings were found at the scene, according to police.No arrests have been made, and no suspect descriptions have been released at this time.
