Accused killer professor Wyndham Lathem has begged US authorities to free him from jail as he awaits trial so he can help in the fight against coronavirus.
Lathem, a world-renowned infectious diseases expert, is awaiting trial over the murder of Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau, who was stabbed 70 times as he slept in the Chicago flat he shared with the professor.
His alleged accomplice, Brit and former Oxford Uni employee, Andrew Warren has agreed to plead guilty to the murder and to testify against Lathem.
But, the 45-year-old professor has now sensationally asked a judge to free him as he believes his knowledge of infectious diseases could help save lives.
