Downing Street and police are now at odds over whether the PM's aide Dominic Cummings was spoken to by officers after travelling 260 miles during the lockdown.
Number 10 has claimed that "at no point" was the controversial advisor approached by officers over allegations he'd broken lockdown rules after developing Covid-19 symptoms.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps doubled down on this point during the Downing Street press briefing this afternoon. But Durham Constabulary has said the opposite, stating that officers were sent to speak to the government advisor - who maintains he did nothing wrong.
Cummings has admitted driving to a home near his family in Durham - despite Number 10's own rules telling people to stay at home.
