Police will not take any action against the PM's aide Dominic Cummings, it has been revealed. In a statement, Durham Police said Boris Johnson's adviser's actions were a "minor" breach of the rules.

Cummings had insisted he acted "lawfully and reasonably" at all times when making the 260-mile journey from London to Durham to isolate with his parents at the end of March.

At the time, both he and his wife were suffering from symptoms of coronavirus. Police said Cummings committed a "minor breach" of the rules when he drove to Barnard Castle - reportedly to check his eyesight - on April 12.

Durham Police has so far issued 137 fines for breaches of the lockdown but said they won't take any action against Cummings.
