A further 9,311 cases of Covid have been confirmed in Scotland within the last 24 hours – and the nation's virus death toll is also on the rise.Data has been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.Nationally, there are 2,383 patients with the disease being treated in hospital, which is up 23 from yesterday's reported figure.
There are currently 20 people being treated in ICUs. The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran has risen by 741.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 126,503 positive tests in the region and 1,775,358 million across Scotland.
Of the new cases reported, 265 were in North Ayrshire, 251 attributed to South Ayrshire and 232 in East Ayrshire.As a result of the historical update in terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Na h-Eileanan Siar has the highest rate in the country – at 3,113.2 as of Monday, March 28.South Ayrshire has the second-highest infection rate at 1,673.8 while the Shetland Islands is third with 1,661.6.
