Oxford University is piloting a promising new coronavirus vaccine after testing it on six monkeys. British drugmaker AstraZeneca last month announced it had teamed up with researchers at the Oxford Vaccine Group and the Jenner Institute, which are developing the vaccine.
Human trials have now begun after a small study of six monkeys resulted in positive results, US and British researchers revealed on Thursday.
The preliminary findings, which are still to undergo rigorous review by other scientists, appeared on bioRxiv.
