Conservative MPs have spoken out against Dominic Cummings following claims he broke lockdown rules. Mr Cummings says he behaved 'reasonably' and 'legally' when he travelled 260 miles from London home to County Durham.
Strict restrictions were in place at the time, with the Prime Minister telling people not to journey long distances. In a statement issued through Number 10, Mr Cummings said he travelled to be close to family to seek help caring for his four-year-old child after his wife became ill with coronavirus symptoms.
Boris Johnson has offered his chief advisor his 'full support', as have senior cabinet ministers. Now prominent backbench MPs have called for Mr Cummings to resign.
