A government expert has accused ministers of "terrorising" the public by making them too scared to go out after the lockdown.
Professor Robert Dingwall claims the UK has "lost sight" of the fact that most people who contract the virus will survive - and it's created a "climate of fear".
And the scientist, who sits on the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag), said there is now an "obsession" with death tolls which has led people to think the virus will kill them.
He told The Telegraph : "We have this very strong message which has effectively terrorised the population into believing that this is a disease that is going to kill you." It comes as the UK's death toll rose to 31,241.
