In 1994, aged 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Piers Morgan has claimed that he has been banned from attending the daily Government briefings on the coronavirus pandemic. The briefings are held at Downing Street every day, and journalists from a wide range of publications are able to dial in and ask questions virtually.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, has been consistently critical of Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the cabinet's handling of the crisis.

After lashing out at the Government once again earlier today on GMB, and their boycott of the ITV programme, he took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the latest briefing.
