Fabio Capello is more fearful that players will suffer injuries than catch the coronavirus when football returns after lockdown.
Serie A clubs are waiting for permission from the Italian government's scientific committee before group training can start next Monday.
Former England manager Capello, now 73, has called for the season to be finished by quarantining players and staff for two months.
But the Italian admits there will be physical and emotional problems for players who have been housebound for two months – and will return in empty stadiums. "Players are right to be worried about injuries," he said. "I fear injuries more than than the virus.
