Incredible webcam footage showing a falcon nesting on the spire of Salisbury Cathedral has attracted thousands of people during the coronavirus lockdown.
More than 55,000 birdwatchers tuned in to watch the peregrine falcon laying eggs – nine times higher than the figures recorded roughly same time last year.
Video live-streamed on the Cathedral's web page shows the unringed female having laid her first egg on Mother's Day last month.
A second one arrived on March 24, a third egg arrived three days later and finally a fourth on March 29. Gary Price, the cathedral's clerk, said the massive increase in viewer might be connected to the coronavirus crisis taking place in the world.
