A heartbroken family have paid tribute to a Scots great-grandad who died from coronavirus after allegedly contracting the virus within the Vale of Leven Hospital.
Alexander Shanks was admitted to the health hub in July last year where he was diagnosed with dementia. The 79-year-old, who also suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), was deemed not fit to be released into the community and had been kept on a ward since.Alexander, a father-of-five, began to feel unwell earlier this month before testing positive for the killer virus.He tragically passed away on Saturday night with his heartbroken grandson by his side.
