Firefighters including some from Greater Manchester have spent a third day tackling a huge moor fire in Derbyshire. The fire first broke out at Rakes Moss just off the stretch of the A628 Woodhead Pass between Glossop and Crowden just after 10am on Thursday.
It saw huge plumes of smoke drift over Manchester with people across the city reporting the smell of burning near their homes.
More than 50 firefighters from Derbyshire are currently involved in the operation and they are being supported by crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service as well as local landowners and the water company United Utilities.
Two helicopters have also now been drafted in to dump water from above. This evening Derbyshire Fire and Rescue service (DFRS)
