Perth and Kinross. New figures released on Wednesday by the National Records of Scotland show that 13 registered deaths in the region mentioned the coronavirus between Monday, January 4 and Sunday, January 10.Only one other week has recorded 13 deaths - the week beginning April 20 last year.It brings the total number of COVID deaths in the region to 146.It comes as infection rates in the region rose by over 25 per cent in just a week.The latest data from Public Health Scotland shows 420 deaths in the seven days up to January 9, with an infection rate of 276.4 per 100,000.That is compared with 334 cases and an infection rate of 219.8 per 100,000 the week before.The percentage of positive tests also increased from 9.8 per cent to 10.5 per.
