Boris Johnson is refusing to axe his controversial Christmas bubbles despite concerns from experts but has instead rolled out new rules people should follow.
The Prime Minister rejected calls for him to scrap the relaxation of coronavirus rules for five days amid concerns it could costs lives.
Instead at a No10 press conference he insisted people "exercise extreme caution" over the festive period and consider isolating from Friday if they can.
He is appealing for family and friends to think very hard about how to make their gatherings as safe as possible, adding that they have a responsibility to protect their elderly or vulnerable loved ones.
