Foodbank volunteers are predicting a huge demand for services over the coming months as the coronavirus epidemic starts to bite.
The impact of the virus has changed everybody’s lives, but for some the changes have been even more dramatic. Those who have recently lost their jobs have found themselves having to sign up for benefits and relying on help from local foodbanks - which supply three day emergency provisions.
Aaron Burns is the project manager at Fallowfield and Withington foodbank. “I can’t speak for other foodbanks but we have seen a big increase in our numbers,” he says. “Our primary concern is that people in crisis are helped.
