No imminent further easing of Covid-19 restrictions are expected ahead of the planned reopening of schools and colleges. Government ministers were briefed by Health Service Executive CEO Paul Reid, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan and chair of the vaccine taskforce Professor Brian McCraith at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Covid-19 today.
No decisions or announcements are expected following the meeting. The committee will meet again next week when it will discuss the roadmap for the reopening of the live entertainment sector and any further easing of restrictions.
Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media Catherine Martin did not attend today's meeting despite having requested to do so.
