Futuristic 5G cars will 'save millions of lives' by sharing road information

The driving force behind the 5G rollout is not so much to make our Facebook posts upload faster but to enable near-instantaneous communication between self-driving cars.

Experts at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) predict that networks of intelligent vehicles will “talk” to each other, warning of upcoming hazards such as black ice and potholes, and drastically reducing the number of accidents on the road.

According to the World Health Organisation there are more than 1.3 million deaths and up to 50 million people injured on roads worldwide every year.
