A further 17 people have died at Greater Manchester hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19. It is the lowest 24-hour rise in deaths for the region in just over three weeks.
Earlier today, the Manchester Evening News reported how the number of coronavirus deaths in Greater Manchester peaked in mid April.
The peak came a full eight days after the rest of England, according to the latest data. Today's figure brings the total number of coronavirus deaths in our region to above 1,208.
It is the lowest since April 5, when the NHS said another 15 lives had been lost. Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust recorded a further five deaths.
