Coronavirus death toll in Greater Manchester rises - 28 more lives have been lost in region's hospitals

A further 28 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after contracting coronavirus. The total number of COVID-19 deaths in our region's hospitals now stands at 1,552.

Hundreds more have died at care homes and in their own homes across the region since the outbreak started. In the last 24 hours, the biggest increase in recorded deaths was at the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust where another 11 fatalities were announced.

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust reported a further eight deaths; Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust another three and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust another three.
