PHILADELPHIA - Police in Philadelphia are warning of a fleet of unmarked tow trucks being used to carry out vehicle thefts. The Philadelphia Police Department on Friday said the thefts have happened across the city, but have mainly occurred in the south and southwest sections. In many of the thefts, police say the actor will come to the vehicle owner's front door and demand money to prevent their car from being towed. According to investigators, the vehicle owners are told that their car is on a 311 list. Philly311 is the city's non-emergency line used for reporting abandoned vehicles, among other things. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe suspects, who police said are all men, later return to the property and carry out the vehicle theft. Police say the cars being targeted have expired temporary tag, flat tires, debris surrounding the car and expired registration.

ATLANTA - A man said an incident on a Frontier Airlines flight ruined what was supposed to be a carefree weekend trip.Chrisean Rose said his flight to Atlanta was fine, but his toddler was nervous on a flight from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Orlando. It was her second time on an airplane, Rose said.Rose said two flight attendants did not raise concerns when he held his child in his lap, but a third flight attendant instructed him to buckle his daughter in because she did not meet the age requirements to sit on his lap.

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The search for Harmony Montgomery, a New Hampshire girl who vanished in 2019 at age 5 but was not reported missing until late 2021, has now shifted to a homicide investigation, authorities said. Investigators have concluded that Montgomery was murdered in the city of Manchester in early December 2019, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said Thursday at a news conference.Montgomery’s remains have not been located, but authorities said biological evidence led them to "this difficult and tragic conclusion."In June, investigators searched an apartment building in the city of Manchester, where Montgomery’s father and stepmother once lived. WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A 65-year-old Washington Township woman has been charged with manslaughter in the death of her 80-year-old mother, officials announced.According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, 65-year-old Loretta Barr was initially charged with assault after police were called to an apartment on Woodmont Circle in Sewell for a reported dispute, in the evening of August 6th.The victim, 80-year-old Florence Dicriscio, was taken to Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township, but was eventually taken to a hospital in Philadelphia to receive advanced care for her injuries.Dicriscio is identified as Barr’s mother.Officials say Dicriscio died August 9th in Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide, due to blunt force trauma to her head and body.After a deeper investigation, officials say, Barr was charged with Manslaughter and Possession of a Weapon.Barr was arrested in West Deptford August 10th and is being held at the Salem County Correctional Facility awaiting further proceedings.

LAS VEGAS - New details were released Thursday on the DUI arrest of former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch from earlier this week in Las Vegas. On Aug. 9 before 7:30 a.m, an officer was conducting a vehicle stop on a car for a man asleep behind the wheel.According to a police report, the car had significant damage, with no rim or tire on the driver’s side front wheel, with dents and dings on the rear driver’s side wheel that about to fall off and the front passenger rim and tire that was almost off. The officer noticed the car was not running but the car had a push button to start and the keys were with the driver. The driver, who was later identified as Lynch, was asleep behind the wheel with the driver’s door open and leaning back in the seat, documents said. Investigators noted Lynch would speak and fell in and out of sleep several times throughout the encounter. According to the police report, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the car and Lynch, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he had one shoe on.  Lynch told the officer that he was "not drinking and he does not do drugs, but that he stole the vehicle," documents said. The report said the responding officer asked Lynch if he would exit the car, he refused and became uncooperative.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Authorities worked Thursday to determine the cause of a house explosion in a southern Indiana neighborhood that killed three people and left another person hospitalized.The explosion Wednesday afternoon in Evansville damaged 39 homes and crews had not yet completed thorough searches of all of them due to instability of the structures, Fire Chief Mike Connelly told reporters Thursday morning.Eleven of the damaged homes were uninhabitable and will have to be demolished, Connelly said, and finding a cause is expected to be a "very tedious process — and lengthy."Names of the dead hadn't been released as of Thursday morning.
