The health watchdog HIQA has confirmed that it will carry out an inspection of Dealgan House Nursing home in Dundalk, Co Louth.
HIQA said it has been aware of the situation since the early stages of the outbreak and has been actively involved in supporting the owners and staff.
It follows the deaths of 23 residents at the home since 1 April, many of which he says were Covid-19 related. Dealgan House say they had 84 residents at the home at the beginning of April.
The RCSI Hospitals Group took over the operational management of the nursing home on 20 April after it struggled to contain the outbreak.
