Suspects in San Jose baby kidnapping tried three times before, DA says

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The two people charged with kidnapping a 3-month-old baby in San Jose last month had tried to take the baby multiple times before, the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office said.The district attorney's office on Thursday brought additional kidnapping charges against Yesenia Ramirez, 43, and Jose Portillo, 28, accused of abducting baby Brandon Cuellar on April 25. PHILADELPHIA - Charges have been filed against a man shot by police during an accused screwdriver attack inside the 39th Police District building on Wednesday. The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office charged Dondrick Massey-Burch Thursday with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and reckless endangerment. The charges stem from an incident that occurred just before 9:20 a.m. inside the district headquarters located on the 2200 block of West Hunting Park Avenue. Police say an officer who was working in the operations room went to speak with a man who was in the lobby wearing a mask.

PHILADELPHIA - SEPTA is facing a new series of questions after a woman who has previously plead guilty in a murder case wound up as part of their new outreach program."What can I tell you about Erica Sanchez? That’s an investigation right now that I can’t speak about," explained Ken Divers, SEPTA’s Assistant Director of Transportation. Erica Sanchez made headlines in 2016 when she pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including third-degree murder, in the stabbing death of a former lover. Prosecutors say her boyfriend, a Philadelphia Police homicide detective, hid her away in a Rochester, New York hotel while his colleagues were looking for her.Following Sanchez’s arrest, she and fired PPD Detective Ronald Dove were sentenced to jail.
