Black Lives Matter march in Aberdeen today. The peaceful two-hour demonstration was held in the city’s Union Street in response to the high profile death of George Floyd in the US last month.
Meanwhile, dozens of military veterans protecting the war memorial at Cowdray Hall looked on as the crowd marched past carrying banners and placards and singing songs.
The special guard had been arranged by march organisers to protect the site from possible attacks. Olaoluwa Akisanya, the president of the African and Caribbean Society at Aberdeen University, organised the demo down the main thoroughfare in the Granite City.
